Meet Kelly: Controller

Meet Kelly: Controller

Kelly LichtAt Forbes Capretto Homes, we take great pride in our fabulous, hard-working team. That’s why we love showing them off! Meet Kelly Licht, our Controller here at Forbes Capretto.

Kelly has been working with us for almost 20 years, starting back in June of 2000. Kelly attended State University College at Buffalo where she earned a Business Accounting degree. Before graduating, she started working at Shea’s Performing Arts Center as an intern and fulfilled various accounting positions over seven years. Kelly then moved on to work in several other companies including Gannett Newspaper and Lumsden & McCormick before finding her home at Forbes Capretto. She has been with us ever since!

Kelly’s day can get quite busy. She can be found handling all the day-to-day financial reporting for the company, including financial statement preparation, budgeting and cashflow. She also ensures the leadership team has up-to-date reporting to better manage and make business decisions for the company.

Choosing the accounting path was easy for Kelly. After taking her first accounting class in high school, she knew it was what she wanted to do for a living. With the help of incredible teachers, supervisors and mentors supporting her throughout her career, Kelly has learned the skills and knowledge required to be the best in her field.

While Kelly loves her job and the work she does for the company, it doesn’t come without its challenges. For Kelly, the most challenging part is long-range forecasting. This process requires multiple variables that have to be considered and can frequently change, causing many adjustments.

Although the job can get a bit tricky, we know she can handle it! Kelly works through the tough parts of the job, because for her, the most rewarding part is getting to say she is part of the Forbes Capretto team that builds beautiful quality homes for their customers! Kelly also agrees that the best part of working at Forbes Capretto Homes is being a part of a team that is like family. Kelly loves how everyone genuinely cares about each other and gets work done while having fun!

When Kelly isn’t in the office handling all of our financial matters, she is most likely gardening over the summer, or spending quality time with family and friends, including her husband of over 25 years and two sons, Connor and Devon. She is their biggest fan at every football game and performance on stage. Even if her sons aren’t performing, Kelly heads to the theatre to watch a captivating performance, because she is a season ticket holder for Shea’s Performing Arts Center.

Between her many hobbies, family and work, it’s amazing Kelly has any time left at all, but she still manages to volunteer for the local youth organizations in her community, including the Special Olympics. She is the Treasurer for several organizations, extending her financial knowledge to help others.
